About Me

Who am I?  Why do I have a toad?  Where does the road go?

Welcome! I’m so glad you found my website.

My name is Rhonda. I’m a 60-something former teacher. I am starting an RV journey to visit as many beautiful spots in America as I can, and to experience what it is to just BE. In the past, my husband and I had several fantastic years of traveling in our motorhome, but we had to give it up because he became ill. He passed away in February, 2014. We had sold our motorhome, but my mind kept returning to the wonderful times we had and the beautiful places we had visited, and I longed to have that experience of freedom once again. The more I thought about it, I began to say to myself, “It’s now or never. If you do not seize the moment and go for it, you will always wish you had.” And so I decided to go for it. I got a motorhome, and on January 17, 2016 my journey began. I am planning on a rather short adventure of several months—but who knows?!.

Why do I want to do this? Because, when you are an RVer you feel totally free. You have no history. You are anonymous—nothing more, nothing less. You get to smile at a completely new bunch of people every day. You are what you are at the moment in the place you happen to be right then. Not to mention all the beautiful places there are to be in this country! Who wouldn’t want to live like that?!

My Rig

I have a 2010 Winnebago Journey, a 35′ diesel motorhome. I call her Miss Chauncey, after a dear friend who is still spunky at age 95. When you are traveling in a motorhome, wherever you find yourself, when the day is done, you are always home.

Why would I bring a toad on my journey?

You may think that I have a pet frog that I keep, hoping that someday it will turn into a prince! Who needs a prince?! If you are an RVer, you already know that a toad is a vehicle that is towed behind your motorhome. It’s a fun way to describe the small (by-comparison) rounded hump following close behind your hulking motorhome. My toad is a 2014 Honda CR-V that I call my toad George, after my father!

And then there’s the Road

The road is what lies ahead. It rolls out in front of you in an endless ribbon. It symbolizes freedom to follow your dreams, to seek new experiences, to meet new friends and to just sniff the air. Did I say it’s a good life? It’s a great life!

Welcome to my blog! I hope you enjoy the journey with me.
